Custom Furniture for Nasi Lemak Wak Teni Discovery Mall

The new Nasi Lemak Wak Teni outlet at Discovery Shopping Mall brings the character of the brand into a very different setting from a typical standalone restaurant. Inside a mall environment, the interior and furniture need to establish a clear identity immediately while also supporting the practical requirements of everyday restaurant operations.

The interior concept was developed by Bali Best Design, the design arm of Bali Best Buy Furniture. The finished space uses extensive timber tones, warm lighting, green upholstered seating, decorative wall elements, and a strong visual connection between the storefront and the dining area.

Bali Best Buy Furniture produced the custom furniture required for the restaurant. The project imagery shows coordinated dining tables, timber dining chairs, woven seating details, and long banquette seating arranged along the walls. These pieces work together as one furniture system rather than as unrelated retail products.

For a commercial restaurant, furniture proportions directly affect how the space functions. Table sizes influence seating capacity and circulation, chair dimensions affect guest comfort, and banquette seating can help use wall areas efficiently while maintaining clear movement through the dining room.

The dining furniture at Wak Teni was therefore developed around the restaurant environment rather than selected independently from the interior. The timber furniture complements the warm material direction of the space, while the darker green banquette upholstery creates visual contrast and reinforces the restaurant’s identity.

The collaboration between Bali Best Design and Bali Best Buy Furniture also allowed the interior design and furniture production to be considered together. Instead of treating the furniture as a final addition after the room had been designed, the seating, tables, banquettes, circulation, lighting, wall treatment, and customer experience could work as parts of the same commercial interior.

This integrated approach is particularly useful for restaurant projects where the design needs to balance brand identity with operational requirements. Furniture has to look appropriate within the space, but it also needs to support repeated daily use, customer turnover, staff movement, and the practical relationship between tables, seating, service areas, and circulation.
